Coverage is good in the cities, along the main rail lines and in the tourist regions. In remote alpine valleys the signal can be weaker.
Why not just use roaming?
Switzerland is not part of the EU, so the EU rule that lets you roam at home prices does not apply here. Many plans from EU providers charge extra for data in Switzerland or only include a small allowance. A local eSIM gives you a fixed price in advance.

How to set it up

Which network does the eSIM use in Switzerland?

When should I install the eSIM?
Install it at home over Wi-Fi and switch on data after you land. The validity period starts with the first connection to a Swiss network, not with the purchase.
Does EU roaming cover Switzerland?
No. Switzerland is not part of the EU, so the EU's roam-like-at-home rule does not apply. Whether your plan includes Switzerland depends on your provider — check before you travel.
Do I pay in Swiss francs?
